There is a cut through road that I can take that would make the 15 minute commute 5 minutes instead, but I take the long way around. It changes every day and there can be any number of surprises from monkeys, to Himalayan jackals, (see Trish's post for them) randoms cows, military doing training by jogging in the mountains, (they never look happy) to dense clouds, it is always a surprise and always beautiful. Sometimes I just stop and watch the clouds........they are amazing. One of the unusual things about living in the clouds! The second week we went the weather at first was very very cloudy and it was just white. So we got to the bun omelet place really quick. Then we went further still. About another 30-40 minutes. The valley opens up and we were told when the clouds retreat from monsoon you can see the big mountains.
We were at the turn around spot and get some chai, and it was in a very empty, dreary place, but it was funny to see that its a "restaurant" when it feels more like an empty room with some tables and chairs. When we were getting ready to leave a trio of kids came out of the alley herding goats. I took some pictures and then later up the road we saw them again. We stopped to take some pics. Part of what amazed me that these kids could very well have the bulk of the family fortune trotting along side of them and they are responsible for them. The herded them up the mountainside to graze and it is so far removed from what my childhood was like I can only fathom what it is like. |
