We gave away, sold or trashed what was neither wanted or could be sold. We had a large roll off dumpster that I think we filled twice. One time after throwing things into the dumpster we were walking hand in hand up the hill when our real estate agent, Betsy pulled up to the curb. She commented that if we can be hand in hand, while throwing out so much that was a true sign we were made for each other.
The thought of those days make me smile, and here we are doing this all over again. Yesterday as I was going through the books and trying to corral them, I was shocked at how many books we had, here and there, and on that shelf or that table. Even in Cassidy's room I kept finding piles of books, and I would think I had them all gathered and then, over there, another small pile of books.
I lugged them to a local bookstore that buys back books, but they have a pretty high standard for quality and marks, and I didn't get rid of many there. Today I will go to the next bookstore and hope they have a desire to purchase some of them.
And I haven't even touched the cookbooks. While they are books, they are in a different category since we are such food fans. I am not sure what to do with them, as they hold so many memories. It was hard enough to part with some of the art books. The cream of the crop art books are going to a friends house just in case....
We have slowly been pruning our wardrobe and its funny how on one hand we are getting rid of clothing but replacing it with new, non-cotton clothing in preparation of the monsoon season. Never in my life have I had so many shoes at one time, or as many new items of clothing.
My mortar and pestle which I have such an attachment too, will be left behind, because there is no way it can make the trip since I bet it weighs 20 pounds by itself!
Trish has very little that is crucial too keep, but I have years of negatives and pictures that I have to keep. Somewhere I need to find a home for them and the backup hard drives with my digital images on them. Both need some kind of safe climate controlled environment. Hopefully one that is free!
Our CDs are another problem. We don't have internet at home so importing them all is a slow process first, but then not being able to have the name, title, artist, etc auto fill makes the proposition unappealing. We have been very low tech and home and have many more CDs physically then we have imported, and its not time well spent trying to get that all done now.
My tools, oh my tools. They are part of me and I will miss them. I want to bring them but talk about weight concerns.
I wish we were more money motivated and wanted to do a garage sale, but we hate them, and we will sell some things and a garage sale isn't out of the question, but its not our ideal.
